Ethio Afro Tours is a fully licensed luxury tour operator and destination management company based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. With more than 15 years of experience, we create private, personalized, and authentic journeys throughout the country.

A family story shaped by experience, hospitality and a lifelong love for Ethiopia
Mihiret Getenat — Founder of Ethio Afro Tours
I was born and raised in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia, where my journey in tourism began at a young age. While continuing my education, I worked with travelers in Bahir Dar and the Simien Mountains. These early experiences inspired my passion for sharing Ethiopia’s remarkable cultures, history, landscapes, and hospitality.
After high school, I moved to Addis Ababa and studied Tourism and Tour Operations at the Tourism Training Institute (TTI), formerly CTTI. Following graduation, I worked with several tourism companies and gained valuable experience in guiding, tour planning, customer service, and destination management.
I later founded Ethio Afro Tours, a licensed Ethiopian tour company specializing in private, customized, and authentic journeys. Today, the company is proudly operated by my three brothers, other family members, our employees, and me.
Travel is both my profession and my passion.
An international perspective
I have represented Ethio Afro Tours at international tourism trade fairs and business events across Europe, and traveled to China, Thailand, Dubai, Kenya, Tanzania, and many European countries. These experiences shaped my understanding of what international travelers value: safety, comfort, careful planning, honest communication, and genuine hospitality.
A family-led company
Although I now live in the Los Angeles area with my family, I remain actively involved in operating Ethio Afro Tours with our trusted team in Ethiopia. We are also committed to creating employment opportunities for local people, especially women interested in becoming tour operators and guides.
Ethio Afro Tours is more than a business. It is a family story built on experience, opportunity, responsible tourism, and a lifelong love for Ethiopia.
